Protect Sag Harbor’s Main Street—
Don’t Let It Become “Chain Street”
Sag Harbor has one of the last Main Streets built on independent, locally-owned shops and restaurants. Our vibrant mix of retail and restaurants serves our year-round community and attracts visitors from far and wide.
Save Sag Harbor was born two decades ago from a grassroots effort to preserve the character and human scale of this village when overdevelopment and chain stores threatened to change the face of our downtown. We have learned that this struggle is never over—Sag Harbor’s success in maintaining its unique charm has only made it more attractive to national chains. Once again, formula retail and restaurants are threatening to change the face of Main Street.
We are urging our Mayor and Village Board to move swiftly to limit formula stores and food service establishments within the Village Business and Office Districts. Please add your voice by signing our petition at the link above, and help us to spread the word.
Save Sag Harbor is an all-volunteer organization. To support our efforts, which often include hiring legal counsel or other professional experts, you can donate at this link, or if you prefer to send a check, please mail it to the address below:
