Our great Summer 2008 Alexa Ray Benefit and a big thank-you!
Alexa Ray Joel at the Whaling and Historical Museum for Save Sag Harbor!
After a day fraught with rain fears, the event turned out to be a great success! Alexa Ray Joel rocked Sag Harbor with a band even better than last year, the mood was totally up and festive, and many new people, and a younger crowd, were introduced to Save Sag Harbor. It was a most enthusiastic response! and you can read reviews in the Daily News and Hello Magazine.
Our heartfelt thanks to Samanthe Lobosco for her unstinting organizational skills in making this event happen, to Alexa Ray Joel for an outstanding performance, and especially to the Whaling Museum (Zach and Chris, you rock!) for coming through for us in such a magnanimous and celebratory way. And if you missed this event, don't forget the Lobster Bake at the Museum on September 12th (call 631-725-0770)!
We thank the entire community and our members for your support, and in continuing to help us all preserve the character and uniqueness of Sag Harbor!
And we want to warmly and specifically thank the following volunteers and merchants who helped make it all possible. Our volunteer staff was led by the intrepid Ann Chwatsky, assisted by her inimitable husband Howard, and included Ashley Baker, Cathleen Civale, Mercedes Condy, Deb Craven, Cooper Davis, Joe Fisher, April Gornik, Marilyn Lew, Bethany Peters, Bev Schanzer, Carol Schapiro, Jill Schoenbach, and Nanette Stavis.
We would also like to warmly thank Barbara Pintauro-Lobosco and Stephen Lobosco, the Law Offices of Mark Schwarz, Bettina Stelle, the Ostrow Family, and the Sag Harbor Police Department.
The merchants include:
Urban Zen, 4 Bay St (who generously provided the tent!)
Wolffer Estate Vineyards, 139 Sagg Rd
Cavaniola's Gourmet Cheese Shop, 89-B Division St
Amber Bakery, Long Island Ave (across from the P.O.)
Grappa Wine Bar, 62 Main Street
Ziggy's Food + Drink, 964 Sag Harbor/Bridgehampton Turnpike
Cuca Romley, Wintertree Gallery, 125 Main St
Emporium True Value Hardware, 72 Main St
Bridgehampton Florist, 11 Main St, Bridgehampton
And thanks to Sag Harbor Beverage, and Tripoli Patterson for helping provide extra refreshment!
You did us proud!
In spite of the harsh economic climate, we came together and had a smashing time
and a real success with our benefit last fall!
Our sincerest thanks to the artists, first and foremost, that made our November 29, 2008 benefit a great success (!), and to all the kind merchants who provided food and drink either at cost or as a donation. We most gratefully thank: Amber Bakery, Cavaniola's Gourmet Cheese, Sag Harbor Liquors, Channing Daughters Winery, and Schiavoni's IGA.
We most especially thank the First Presbyterian (Old Whalers') Church for once again being such a great friend to the community and allowing us to host our event there!
Instead of a gloomy-economy response to the benefit, we were deeply gratified that the community once again came together to celebrate, brainstorm, and support Save Sag Harbor! We thank you all! and a special tip of the cap to our wonderful volunteers, who know how to step up to the plate with grace and patience.
